Lurking

Yesterday, life was simple.

This is how I found The Bubbie this morning.  Cute right?  Of course.  You wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary unless you knew that I PUT HIM IN THE CRIB ON HIS TUMMY!  Now do you understand?

Speaking of being the new girl...I haven't been the new girl in a long time.  I have the skills.  Don't misunderstand.  You want proof...alright!  Before graduating from high school, I attended thirteen - yes, 13 - different schools.  AND I am currently living in my 32 home.  Yes, thirty-second.  I have new girl skills, people.

But, they're a bit rusty.  I've lived in the Tall City for nigh a year now.  It's fun to use words like nigh.  Makes me feel like I was an English teacher in a different life.  Oh, wait...  I have no friends.  There, I said it.  I have no friends.  Being super-prego and then a new mom hasn't helped the situation.  I've decided though.  I'm digging in.  I'm making this my home.  I'll need friends.

My bible study is fantastic.  I'm enjoying the study.  It's good for my brain and my heart.  But I think I need more.  There is such limited time left in this semester and then I'm stuck with summer and no friends.  So, I've considering joining the Junior League.  I have decided and undecided and decided and undecided.  Well, I'm going to do it.  I'm going to join.

I have wavered because deep down in me lurks a teenage girl.  I don't know if I have the right clothes to wear or have the right things to say and I want the other girls to like me.  Ah, the danger of being the new girl.  But, I've overcome these things before - as an actual teenage girl.  Surely as a wise 33 year old, I can deal.

This could get interesting.  I'm pretty sure I'm not your typical Junior Leaguer.  I'm also pretty sure that, just like a lot of things, I may have made up my mind long ago and it hasn't occurred to me to investigate further.  As illustrated by "Chester Drawers".

We'll see.
